Daughter of a career Navy man and a classically-trained pianist, West-Coaster by birth, Northerner by inclination, Elle grew up on a series of Armed Forces bases from Esquimalt to the Maritimes and the High Arctic.
The adventures she’s shared with her family include a wild ride down a frozen river behind a runaway dog-team, watching a tank roll past their front window, its gun-turret barely visible through a raging white-out, and surviving a Force Eight storm at sea. While studying to become a teacher, Elle wandered into a Theatre Design Exhibit. She earned an M.F.A in Directing and spent the next few decades working as a stage manager, designer, and director for a variety of professional and community groups. She continues to direct occasionally for a local amateur group. Elle has been writing online since 2008, mainly non-fiction articles as well as sci-fi / fantasy short stories, and a ghost story, Lie Down in Green Pastures. Writing as A.L. Fredine, she has recently completed the second novel in her crime series, North Haven Mysteries, and is working on a third. |
